A discussion of Ron Forman as mayor of New Orleans Home      SiteMap

Dear Ron,
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

An Introduction to the Candidate
On Tuesday February 7th 2006, Audubon Nature Institute CEO Ron Forman announced his candidacy for Mayor.

This weblog, which is not affiliated in any way with Ron Forman's campaign, or in fact with ANY mayoral candidate, takes a look at his record and attempts to show how it reflects Ron Forman's character and abilities at a time when New Orleans needs leadership with integrity, experience, sound political skill and judgement, and a commitment to making tough decisions in a democratic manner.

Times-Picayune Endorses Ron
As expected, the Times-Picayune has endorsed Ron Forman for Mayor, and the Gambit's equally expected endorsement is sure to be announced soon as well.

Everyone should be thrilled at this confirmation that the Old New Orleans is alive and well and panting to flex its political muscle. Where else but New Orleans can a man with such a controversial history as Ron Forman's be endorsed by the single major daily newspaper!? Of course, the T-P may have had little choice with so many of the biggest-money New Orleanians backing Ron, not the least of whom being their own 2006 Loving Cup nominee Louis Freeman (see article below).

This endorsement reflects how well Ron Forman knows how to get things done. No matter whether it involves a little subterfuge and some half-truths, so be it-- Ron will accomplish his mission, whatever the cost, whatever the means. And that's what New Orleans needs now more than ever: a man who has the connections, desire and vision to turn this underachieving city into another Houston, Dallas or Atlanta.

Go Ron, Go.

Campaign Notes
Some observations on Mr Forman's campaign and, where relevant, on those of other candidates.

Those who fear that Mr Forman, "not being a politician", may lack the skills to run a truly effective traditional New Orleans campaign will be reassured by early signs.
